USDA-OK Dept Ag Market News
Oklahoma National Stockyards - Week-
Cattle Summary
Compared to last week: Demand light.
Feeder cattle and calves 2.00- 4.00 lower,
with spots much lower in light lest of
prices; market not tested as supply insuffi
cient in any one class to make load lots.
Road conditions to the sale were poor as
freezing drizzle made travel slow. By mid
morning blowing snow on top of light layer
of ice made travel from stockyards terrible
at best Slaughter cows 1.00 lower in very
light test. Few slaughter bulls steady.
Demand light for minimal supply of
slaughter cows and bulls. Demand and
market more a function of trucking than,
need. With 100 few slaughter cattle avail
able to make a load and no other cow sales
upcoming this week buyers needed addi
tional cost savings to pay trucking. Total of
SO cows and bulls sold with 70 percent to
packers. Receipts this week 1,540; last
week 10,097; last year no sale. Supply con
sisted of 45 percent yearlings and calves
over 600 lbs; 52 percent calves under 600
lbs; 3 percent cows and bulls. Prices follow
with weighted average weight and price in
parenthesis.
