gathered at the Leslie N. Firth
Learning Center in Mercer to
celebrate the past year’s
achievements and look ahead to
next year.
Outstanding 4-H Boy honors
went to Tom Über of Harrisville.
Ibm, is the 19 years-old son of
Peb Über, also of Harrisville,
has been a member of
Hayburners 4-H Dairy Club,
County Council club, and parts
’n’ Pieces Veterinary Science
Club. He has held several offices
and has been active in showing
dairy cattle, winning a number
of showmanship awards during
his years in 4-H.

Mercer County Honors 4-H Members At Awards Night
is 17 land is the daughter of Paul
and'Karen Tavares of Grove
City. Mindy has been very
actively involved in the 4-H
sewing project. She has been to
states in fashion review and was
a state finalist in 1996. Mindy is
also a member of the Parts ’n’
Pieces where she has held every
office at one time or another.
4-H Club Officers who did an
outstanding job received awards
for their work. They are:
Roxanne Green, Katie Carr, and
Lisa Abemathe, secretary; T.
Wane Ward, newsreporter;
Marsha Crosky and Rotasha
Gunn, treasurer.
4-H member who did an out
standing job on the project books
competed for the Pennwest
Farm Credit Awards. The win
ners were: Tammy Menke,
dairy; Jason McGhee, beef; Pam
Warner, swine; Sara Kish, horse

Marsha Crosky earned the
teen leader award. Regional
camp counselors Holly Braho,
Sara Bollyard, and Kim
Voorhies were recognized for

the age of 19 and are moving on

the Hill Awards." Twenty-five
members received the award

ARA Honors
Legislators
ST. LOUIS, Mo. The Agri
cultural Retailers Association
(ARA) announced Dec. 9, at its
annual Convention & Expo, Sen.
Conrad Burns (R-Mont.) and Rep.
Steve Buyer (R-lnd.) ate the asso
ciation’s legislator of the year.
Both Burns and Buyer worked
diligently with ARA to secure
provisions on HM-200 Hazmat
requirements. Their efforts en
sured the retailer perspective was
included in discussions surround
ing new placarding and transpor
tation requirements.
