Correspondent STATE COLLEGE, Centre Co. - Lloyd Ebersole, the first president of the Penn State Dairymen’s Club, highlighted the l(f annual banquet meeting with a review of the club’s history in providing support for dairy science programs, particularly the judging teams, as well as being a liason between alumni and students. Ebersole has been an assistant manager of Sire Power since 1979 and is a director of the National Association of Animal Breeders and a former director of Dairy Shrine. The Service Award this year went to Dr. Larry Muller, who has been a dedicated Penn State dairy science faculty member since 1978. In addition to his work at Penn State, Muller is the current presi dent of the American Dairy Sci ence Association and has been president of the Northeast divi sion, director of the production di vision, and advisor to the national student affiliate of ADSA. He has also served on the National Acad emy of Science Committee for re vision of its Nutrient Require ments of Dairy Cattle reference book. For his work Muller received the Ralston Purina Award for teaching excellence in 1985 and s^o99 WE SHIP I=^=l m the Merck Ag Vet Dairy Man agement Award for research in dairy management in 1988. His favorite hobbies are golf and Penn State football. In board elections the club elected Jayne Hess Sebright and David Lentz to replace Robert Davis and Charles Seidel, whose two-year terms expired. At the Eastern States Exposi tion the team placed third in Jer seys, fourth in Guernseys and fifth in Ayrshires, Holsteins and over all. Pavelski was sixth in Milking Shorthorns, Haas was fifth in Jer seys, Oberholtzer was seventh in Holsteins and ninth in Ayrshires, and Clock was eighth in Brown Swiss, sixth in Guernseys, third in Jerseys and sixth overall. At the Pennsylvania All- American Contest, the team placed ninth overall and third in Holsteins. Haas placed third in Jerseys. In the National Intercol legiate Contest in Madison they placed tenth overall and were in the top 10 for three breeds It was the sixth consecutive year Penn State was in the top 10 teams.
