Oklahoma National Stockyarls - Week
ly Cattle Summaiy
Compared to last week: Steer calves
steady to 2.00 lower, decline over 500 lbs.
Heifer calves 1.00-2.00 lower. Feeder
cattle steady in a light test. Supply con
tinues mostly calves and very few year
lings. Demand moderate. Several sets of
calves in thin condition with many in aver
age flesh. This not typical of a normal fall
run in which calves are fleshy but the sum
mer draught stressed cows causing farmers
to wean calves early. Quality plain to aver
age, few attractive. Rains of 2-6 inches fell
over the weekend with heaviest tains and
flooding along 1-40 and northward.
Slaughter cows t.OO-2.00 higher. Slaugh
ter bulls 2.00 higher. Packer demand good
for light receipts. Demand remains good
for thin cows destined to feedlols or return
ing to country. Total of 485 cows and bulls
sold with 45 percent going to packets.
Receipts this week 8,900; last week
14,860; last year 14,516. Supply consisted
of3l percent yearlings and calves over 600
lbs; 64 percent calves under 600 lbs; 5 per
cent cows and bulls. Prices follow with
weighted average weight and price in
parenthesis.
