NATIONAL EGG MARKET - AT A
GLANCE:
Extra large and large prices were
unchanged to higher in the Northeast and
Southeast, and elsewhere, prices were
unchanged. The market tone was steady to
firm for the large sizes, and steady for the
light weights. Demand covered the full
range, and was mostly moderate except
where featured, movement was fairly good
to good. Supplies of brown eggs and the
large white sizes were tight to adequate,
and the lighter weights were adequate to
ample. Breaking stock supplies remained
generally adequate or available, and
demand for extra eggs was mixed; the
market tone was steady to firm, strongest
where breakers competed with shell egg
graders to secure limited heavy egg offer
ings. Light type hen offerings were suffi
cient for full slaughter schedules.
