Compared to last week; Feeder steers
3.00-4.00 lower. Feeder heifers 2.00-3.00
lower. Northern buyers now out of the
Brahman market and these cattle as much
as 5.00 lower. Demand moderate for feed
ers at this level. Steer and heifer calves
steady to 2.00 lower, decline on calves
over 525 lbs. Calf demand good as low
pressure system has moved clouds into the
state with a few light tains last night and
today. Predictions for more rain this week
best in a month. Quality plain to average.
Weigh-ups highly varied but mostly avera
geaand this much improved for buyers
from last week's full conditions. Feeder
cattle in thin to medium flesh; calves in
medium to slightly fleshy conditions.
Slaughter cows steady to 1.00 lower.
Slaughter bulls 1.50 lower. Packer demand
moderate. Country buyers again aggressive
for cows headed to nonhem pastures.
1,040 cows and bulls sold with 70 percent
to packers. Receipts this week 12,200; last
week 10,180; last year 10,009.
Supply consisted of 72 percent yearlings
over 000 lbs; 19 percent calves under 600
lbs; 9 percent cows and bulls. Prices follow
with weighted average weight and price in
parenthesis.
