Pa. Sheep, Wool Growers Hold 50th Keystone Show, Sale
(Continued from Pago At)
The date of the 1999 Keystone is
to be announced, though it can be
expected to be held about the same
time as this year’s show and sale. It
is to be held again at the Farm
Show Complex in Harrisburg.
There were 12 breeds exhibited
and sold during the 50th
Keystone Hampshire, Suffolk,
Southdown, Finnsheep, Polypay,
Oxford, Shropshire, Tunis, Che
viot, Horned Dorset, Polled
Dorset, and Wether Sheep.
Exhibitors and buyers came
from Canada and a number of
states, including Maiyland, Illi
nois, Ohio, West Virginia, Ver
mont, Virginia, and Michigan.
The Keystone show is designed
so that a champion ewe and ram
are selected from each breed and
then a supreme champion ewe and
ram are selected from those.
The supreme champion ram of
the show was an all-black
crossbred spring ram lamb Wether
sire exhibited by Lyn Lee Farms,

of State College.
According to Steve Taylor,
manager of Lyn Lee, the farming
operation includes 900 acres of
cropland, with about 350 Suffolk
and crossbred Wether sheep, 100
Saler beef cattle brood cows, and
they have about 50 sows to pro
duce crossbred market swine for
club pigs.
Taylor said he has been coming
to the Keystone for about seven
years, three as manager of Lyn
Lee. The supreme ram champion
ship is the second supreme title

about 135 brood Suffolk ewes, and
raise about 50 steers on grass for
feedlots.
Eddie said he has been showing
and selling at the Keystone from
