While many farmers in the
Adams County area send their
milk south, the Wilkinsons sent
theirs to a processing plant in

Hay production, another major
part of the operation, helps to feed
the animals on Getty Acres. It is
also sold as feed. Two tractor
trailers travel many months of the
year between the farm and the
mushroom industry in Kenent
Square, where it is used as mulch.
Lany explained that they usual

Clean Water Farm Award given
by the Adams County Conserva

David Kano, Jr., Chesapeake
Bay nutrient management techni

in 1986 to recognize farm opera
tors who are protecting local water
quality, and ultimately the Chesa
peake Bay, by implementing ex

identifying one farmer in their
county who meets criteria regard

nutrient management, pesticide
management, and conservation
practices.
Larry first contacted the district
for conservation assistance in
1977 and all of the 2,800 acres

On the tracts owned by Wilkin
sons there are 885 feet of diver

and maintained in grass, 8,700
feet of subsurface drainage (tile),
two water control structures,
1,300 feet of underground outlet,
2,480 feet of waterways, and three
manure storages.
On the rented acres, Kann said,
there are a large number in hay,
two water control structures, and
1,050 feet of underground outlet
On the land, all drainage ways
are maintained in grass.

KUBOTA DEFIES
THE LAW OF AVERAGES
Kubota engineers defied all the laws of "average" when they designed Kubota's Grand L and M-Senes
diesel tractors. Loaded with features, these versatile tractors can tackle your toughest farming tasks.
The 2WD and 4WD Grand L-Senes generates 25 to 37 PTO horsepower in four compact, state-of-the-art
models.
Shift-on-the-go with Kubota's Synchro-shuttle transmission, or choose a GST (Glide Shift Transmission)
for 8 speed clutchless operation.
Kubota's M-Series increases your power with two models producing 42 to 50 PTO horsepower. The
M-Series 4WD models incorporate Kubota's bevel gear drive for smooth, tight turns
Both the Grand L and M-Series are powered by Kubota's
low noise and vibration E-TVCS diesel engines. These easy
maintenance diesels are lean on both fuel and emissions, and are
also environmentally friendly. Independent rear PTO and hefty
3-point hitch is standard.
