This experiment will allow the cows to have that drink and keep cod right in the parlor. Milk production data is trans ferred into computers, along with feed date right from the parlor. This data is electronically trans ferred to College Park. Statistical analysis can now be speedily obtained as soon as two weeks after the trial has been completed. In addition, preliminary and on-going data can be studied as the trial progresses. “Research projects have been continuous since we have the new facilities completed,” Moreland said “And we have to slack the projects because you can only use a certain number of cows in any one trial. It is a lot of individual work.” Cows are tethered to individual feed bins that are mobile and lock in place in front of each cow for intensive feed studies and indivi The milking parlor allows individual cows to be retained for further research pro jects while the other cows in the row are released after milking. all Northeast Agri Systems itz, PA Federalsburg, MD 1 -800-673-2580 1 -800-735-6361 FD 36 Direct drive 36 fan with 115-230 volt 1/2 HP motor in wood crate with guards and cord *175 QUANTIT Electrical cords, hanging hardware, shutters, thermostats and all other fans on special Call for free estimates, etc. Authorized master distributor since 1982 ilortheartl Northeost Agn Systems, Inc sasuniversit* »ve Fly way Business Park store hours Mon fm 730t0 d 30 m rasas 139 A West Airport Road 24 H ' 7 Dav R9t>c "' Se,vl " e Jgjj ito , e „ oU m Lititz PA 17543 ju 730»m ijopm Ph (717) 569 2702 1-800-673-2580 ™ fSs&j Monday Friday dual rations. In the frce-stall bams a flush sys tem is in place that takes the man ure to a settling basin and on to a holding lank that is agitated and pumped through the separator. In the separator the manure is filtered down through grates to release the solids to the ground to be put into the composting system, and the liq uids to the second holding tank to be pumped to the lagoons across the road. From the secondary lagoon the water is pumped to irri gate the fields, relumed to die flush system in the bams, or put into the wetland filtering trials. Benny Erez, who is in charge of the composting operation, believes this method of handling manure will have a place in the future dairy business because of the need to move manure off the farm. “This is a good way to export manure,” Erez said. “Composting helps to stablize the nitrogen, reduce the odor problems and FD 48 Direct drive 48" fan with 115-230 volt 1 HP motor in wood crate with guards *329 DISCOUNTS FOR 1 NEF4B Belt driven 48 fan with 230 volt I HP energy efficient motor in wood crate with guards *335 0 OR MORE! . irds eye view of the new facilities at the Clarksville research farm.
