ANSWER Donna Cleveland, Wellsboro, wanted good
diabetic dessert recipes. Thanks to Anna Martin, Denver, for
sending the following;
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
'A teaspoon salt
% teaspoon cinnamon
’/« pound butter, softened
1 teaspoon grated orange peel
1 large egg
'A cup orange Juice
'A cup apple sauce
!A cup walnuts, chopped
VI cup dark raisins
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In large bowl, combine all
ingredients and stir until well mixed. Drop by tablespoon about
two inches apart onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake about
20 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove cookies to rack to
cool. Makes 2V4 dozen.
Sugarless Apple Pie
6 medium apples
3 tablespoons com starch
1 tablespoon cinnamon
12 ounce can frozen apple juice
1 tablespoon butter
Arrange apples in crust. Mix together cornstarch, cinnamon,
and apple Juice. Stir constantly while bringing to a boil. When it
turns dear, remove from heat. Stir in butter. Pour over apples.
Cover with top pastry. Place pie plate on a cookie sheet. Bake
at 375 degrees for 40 minutes.

The Berks County Society of
Farm Women Group 4 met on
March 10, at the home of hostess
Lottie Hildenbrand, Boycrtown.
The program for the evening
included health quizzes. How
much do you know about heart dis
ease, arthritis the common cold,
asthma, diabeds, and osteoporosis.
Several members also had their
blood pressure checked.
During the business meeting
conducted by president Elsie Rot
tenberger, plans were made for
those planning to attend the Spring
Rally at River Edge, Reading, on
May 12. Those wishing to attend
are Mary Fizz, Elsie Rottenberger,
Peg Mauger, Lottie Hildenbrand,

ducts again. The books will be dis
tributed in April. The tentative
date for the yard and bake sale is
June 20.

ers were sent in memory of Evelyn
Becker, a member who passed
away on Feb. 11.

Lancaster Finn Women Society
3 met in January at the home of
Mary Hill for great desserts and
reading the by-laws. A guest
appearance was made by Mary’s
{peat granddaughter’s snake.
Members held the February
meeting at Gan Shakespeare’s
home for a pound auction to help
support the American Heart Asso
ciation. Members enjoyed great
food and fellowship. The next
meeting will be at the home of
Sonja Moyer, Boycrtown.
York Society 26
York County Farm Women
#26 met at Yocum town Church
for the March meeting.
11 members were in atten
dance.
Charlotte Hardy and Mary
Lantz were hostesses.
After the luncheon the busi
ness meeting was chaired by
president Athena Beshore.
A bus trip is planned for
September 24 to the Dutch
Apple Theatre to see "The Sound
Of Music.”
Members will car pool to the
Spring Rally in May.
Donations were given to the
Cancer and Heart Funds.
Janet Lahr was sworn in as a
new member.
