The Up land Farm Inc., Chester Springs, Pa. has been named a Historic An gus Herd by the American Angus Association for having been in the continuous production of regis tered Angus cattle, in the same family, for more than SO years. John Kramer, who is now de ceased, started the herd in 1946. Early guidance was given to him by Herb Schiffer, a fellow Penn sylvania Angus breeder. The herd Annual Ryegrass Field Day Set KEEDYSVILLE, Md. A field day/pas turc walk will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, April 22 here at the University of Maryland’s Western Maryland Research and Education Center (WMREC). The field day will fo cus on the use of annual ryegrass to increase agricultural profitability for livestock producers. Seventeen ryegrass varieties and triticale are being managed un der both a pasture sys tem and a cut and cany system to evaluate yield, palatability, win ter hardiness, and man agement considerations necessary for highly ef fective use of this prom ising new forage in this area.
