The winners announced in the Intermediate Division were Lori Connelly, daughter of Ronald and Denise Connelly and Thomas Har wood, son of Robert and Donna Harwood. All six finalists are to be congratulated for their outstanding achievements in their many activi ties and organizations. JUNIOR DIVISION In the junior division six final ists were recognized. Dairy Bowl Contest The Pennsylvania Junior Hol stein Dairy Bowl contest was held during the Junior Holstein Con vention February 6-8 at the Holi day Inn, Uniontown. There were 34 teams competing in two age di visions, 21 Junior teams and 13 Senior teams. In the Junior Division a team from Centre County consisting of Emily Cloninger, Ben Cloninger, Jay Harding and Zack Harding won the titel in the double elimination contest The Centre County team is coached by Dr Robert Cloninger and Cindy Har Junior Holstein Schantz, Albums, Berks County; Brent Schuler, Fleetwood, Berks County; Kelsi Wilcox, Russell, Warren County; Clayton Wood, Littlesiown, York County. The six finalists were chosen from a field of 10 contestants. Each was selected based on a scrapbook listing their activities and involvement in Holstein work, school, and community activities and leadership positions. They also must complete a story high lighting their work on the home farm and tell what some of their fu ture plans will be. The Junior final ists also were interviewed by a panel of judges. The 1998 Junior Division win ners are Megan Schantz, daughter of David and Katherine Schantz and Brent Schuler, son of Davie and Eileen Schuler. These two young people are to be congratu lated on their outstanding accomp lishments. ding. To win the title they de feated a team from Franklin Coun ty made up of Kyle Burdette, Ra chel Oliver, Daniel Oliver and Thomas Harwood. Their coaches are Donna Harwood and Dr. Alan Oliver. In the Senior Division a team from Berks County completed a perfect day, winning the double elimination contest over Lebanon County. The winning team of Jen nifer Neiman, Michael Neiman, Brandon Treichler and Erica Davis, is coached by Teresa Davis and Donna Wcrlcy. Youth Scholarship Winners The Pennsylvania Holstein Youth Scholarship Organization is pleased to recognize three indi viduals for their work with Hol steins, community involvement, school activities and leadership abilities. Each of these young peo ple was a recipient of the Pennsyl vania Holstein Youth Achieve ment Scholarship. The Scholar ship is a $l,OOO award to be used by each winner to better them selves through an educational pro gram. The Scholarship winners this year include: Victoria Ansell, Scottsdale, Westmoreland County, daughter of Larry and Susan Ansell, attends Penn State University majoring in Dairy and Animal Science. Christopher Connelly, PA Fur nace, Centre County, son of Ron and Denise Connelly, attends Penn State University majoring in Dairy and Animal Science. Jonathan McMurray, Eighty Four, Washington County, son of John and Patty McMurray, attends Penn State University majoring in Speech Communications.
