She has been on several of the chapter's com mittees, she said, including serving this year on its Econom ic Committee. Her projects include an SAE project of owning a Western Quar terhorse mare. She has won awards for horse judging, and earned Greenhand and Red Rose degrees. She said she plans to work as a floral designer and puruse edu cation in other areas of horticulture. She also plans to own horses. Karl Karl Swimlcy, 19, son of Pam and Tim Swimley of Westfield, is Tiog) County FFA pres ident this year, and is the student ad visor for hi Cowanesque FFA Chapter. He ha: served as chairman of the chapter’s Mt and as co-chair of its Citrus Sales Com mittee. His project is on-faim work exper ience, and in awards, he won a first in the state for land judging, ninth for forestiy knowledge and received area and reigonal star awards for ag sales and service. He also proficiency awards for both soil and water management and outdoor recreta tion. His plan is to pursuee collegiate fore stry studies. Scott Tharp Scott Tharp, 17, son of Walter and Vio let Tharp of Mount Pleasant Mills, has served as assistant chaplain of the Middle burg FFA Chapter during his four years as a member. He has also served on its Lead ership Committee. He didn’t list his FFA projects, and said he received no awards. He plans to work in construction after high school. She has been chair- man of the chapter Supplies Committee, and has served on its Food For America, Greenhand, and Ban quet committees. Her projects include raising rabbits, market lambs, doing on farm and off-farm work experience, rais ing and training a dog, and a home garden project She has won awards in sheep pro ficiency, the SUNA Area and state SAE record keeping, showed the grand champ ion sheep at the West End Fair, and won awards for fitting and showing sheep. With Greenhand and Chapter degrees, she said she would like to attend Northwest ern College in Ohio for agriculture equip ment mechanics. She attended a national FFA convention. Sandra Urbanick Sandra Urbanick, 17, daughter of Joe and Nonna Urbanick of Conneautville, is the chaplain for the Lincsville FFA Chap ter. She has been involved in the chapter’s Leadership, Support Group, and Ag Awareness committees, and has been a member for three years. She said her pro ject is beef finishing, and she has been named a Crawford County star beef far mer, and was a champion FFA fitter and showman. She said she wants to continue working and growing with her beef finish ing enterprise. Mary Varner Mary Varner, 17, daughter of Glenn and Bonnie Ocker of St. Thomas, is Franklin County FFA president, as well as vice presi dent of the' Conococheague Chapter. Carleen Vorisck Carlccn Michelle Vorisek, 17, daughter of Charles and Catherine Vorisek, is cur rently president of the Uncsville FFA Chapter, having served as its vice presi dent and secretary, respectively, during the past two years. She is a member of the chapter’s Cider and Banquet committees, and her projects include beekeeping, swine finishing, gardening, and poultry. She has won awards in for state proficien cies and for a national cooperative award. She has her Greenhand degree. Her plan is to pursue marketing and sales studies at a college. Brandan Wagner Brandan Wagner, 18, son of Rodger and Dorothy Wagner, of Oley, is a four-year member of the Oley Valley FFA Chapter and has served in past years as Its assistant treasurer, president, and treasurer. He has also served on its Leadership, Community Sendee, and Fund Raising committees. His projects ate working with dairy cows and dairy calves, and work experience. He has won a proficiency award in dairy cattle production, a state bronze medal for dairy foods, state gold for dairy showmanship, and a state silver award for tractor driving. He competed in regional agronomy con tests, was second place in an area extem poraneous speaking contest, and was fourth in Berks County FFA for interview ing skills. He has his Gteenhand and Chap ter degrees, and plans to continue dairy farming and attend a trade school for diesel technology. The Future Jeremy Walters Jeremy Walters, 18, son of Harold and Patricia Walters of Berlin, is the Somerset County FFA vice presi dent, and president of die Brothcrsval ley FFA Chapter. He has also served as chapter reporter and treasurer. He is involved with the chapter’s Seed Sales and Banquet commit tees among other activities. His projects include mechanical improvements,' work ing on a Farmall Super MD, and maple sugar production. He has won awards for agri-entreprenuership, state award for public speaking, and has earned his Green hand and Chapter degrees. His plan is to become a heavy equipment and farm machinery mechanic. David Warihay, 17, son of Bob and Barb Warihay of been a member of w #3BV the Manor FFA m Chanter for four served on its Fruit Petting Zoo, and Radio Activity committees. His projects inlcude work experience and raising hogs. He showed a reserve grand champion hog and won an award in nursery landscaping. The reci pient of a Greenhand and Chapter and country degrees, he was also named a Star Red Rose winner.
