Zachary Jack Russell Zachary Jack # Russell, 18, son of Nancy Foust of Coudersport, is a four-year member of the Spud Grower FFA Chapter, and a member of* its Fruit Sales and Donkey Basketball com mittees. His FFA projects include water quality testing, and timber stand improvement. He has won awards for land judging and earned his Grccnhand and Chapter degrees. He said he intends to pursue acceptance into the United State military and then pursue a four-year college degree. Nikki Ryder Nikki Ryder, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Ryder of St. Thomas, is a four year member of the Conococheague/ James Buchanan FFA Chapter. She is currently the chapter parlia mentarian and county vice president, hav ing served as chapter sentinel and county FFA president during the past year. She also served as chapter reporter during the 1995-96 term. Her committee involve ments include work with the chapter Leadership, Community Service, Public Relations, and Scholarship committees. FFA project work includes raising dairy heifers and doing greenhouse production. She competed in farm business manage ment competitions at the Big Eastern Exposition, and earned her Grecnhand and Chapter degrees and received a Star Chapter award. She said she intends to pursue agronomic studies at a four-year college. Leah Sarro Leah Sarro, 17, daughter of Pat and Paul Sarro of Philadelphia, has been a four-year member of the Phildelphia FFA Chapter at W.B. Saul High School, where she is continuing into her second year as chapter reporter. A member of its Flori culture Club and Junior Prom Committee, she has been involved with the Helping Hands projects and the Yearbook. She was a winner in a Soropdmist Club con test, and received her Grecnhand and Chapter degrees. Her goal is to become a news reporter. Keith Sai Keith Sauder, 18, son of Linda and Randy Sander of East Earl, has served as the reporter for the Grassland FFA Chapter for the past year, and second reporting secretary for the year prior. Active in the chap ter's Alumni, and Public Relations com mittees, he served as chairman for its SAE and Public Relations committees. His FFA projects inlcude working at Kings Tables, with wildlife, home improvement, and pleasure horse. He has won awards for horse proficiency, ag business profi ciency, and agricultural mechanics profi ciency. He was also a member of the sec ond place state poultry judging team, the third place poultry team at Eastern States competitions, and was named Star Red Rose (county) Agtibusincssman. He com peted in horse judging and forestry judg ing at regional level contests, and also attended a Made for Excellence Confer- ence. He earned Greenhand, Chapter and Red Rose degrees. While the majority of FFA Keystone Degree recipients said they enjoyed the relationships they developed and the people they met through participa tion in FFA events and activities, Keith said he found the travel aspect of some of it very enjoyable. “I enjoy going on trips the most I was never in Massachusetts until my somphomore year with our poul try team. I also went to Kansas City during my junior year,” he said. “In the future I plan to take trips west to the feockies as well as continue working with wood, whether it be where I am now, or employ ed in some other location.” Brock Si Brock Saylor, 17, son of Robert and Beverly Saylor of Winfield, has served as student advisor and treasurer for the Selinsgtove FFA Chapter. He has been involved in the FFA chapter’s Com Club, Banquet, Scholarship, and Cider committees, and his projects have included raising daily beef, field com, and finishing swine. He won a bronze award at the state level for land judging, and a gold medal in the state FFA ag mechanics contest He has earned Greenhand, Chapter and Area degrees, and said he would like to farm full time, and do mechanic work on the side. FFA has given him a chance to travel and meet people. Heather Schaetzle Heather Schaetzle, 18, daughter of Alan and Joan Schaetzel of Womelsdorf, is currently parlia mentarian for the Conrad Weiscr FFA Chapter, having served as sentinel for the past year, and reporter the year prior. She is a mem- bcr of the chapter's Executive, Elm Tree and Recreation committees. Her super vised agricultural experience (SAE) pro jects involved agricultural and environ mental experiments and research. She placed first in the state for conservation public speaking. She also earned Green hand and Chapter degrees. She said her plans are to pursue a degree from Penn State University leading into an environ mental career. Harry Schussler Harry Schussler, 18, son of Harry and Lois Schussler, of Philadelphia, is presi dent of the Philadelphia FFA Chapter’s Horse Club, and his projects have been working as a student farmer at the Equine Center. He has earned his Greehhand and Chapter degrees, and won awards in horse judging and at the Northwestern Horse Show. He said he enjoys the competitions offered through FFA and he intends to pursue large animal studies at Delaware Valley College after high school. Adrienne Sheafler Andrienne Shcaffcr, 17, daugh ter of Lynn and Elaine Shcaffcr of Mechanicsburg, is the current treasurer of the Cumberland Valley FFA Chapter, and has served as its reporter during the past year. A member of the chapter’s Executive, Finance, Banquet, and FFA Activities Week committees, she has earned her Greenhand, Chapter and CDP Area degrees. She lists her proejcts as strawbeny production, beef finishing, beef raising, and home improvement She has won proficiency awards in agricultur al communications, small fruit produc tion, home improvement and beef produc tion.
