recipe for a no sugar angel food cake. Thanks to Betty Light,
Lebanon, for sending one.
Chocolate Angel Food Cake
'/« cup cocoa
1 cup cake flour
IV4 cups granulated fructose
I'A cups egg whites
3 /« teaspoon salt
1 'A teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
'A teaspoon almond extract
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease 10-inch tube pan.
Sift cocoa, cake flour and % cup frutose together four times;
set aside.
Beat egg whites with salt until foamy. Sprinkle cream of tar
tar over egg whites, beat until stiff but not dry.
Fold in remaining fructose, 1 tablespoon at a time. Fold in
vanilla and almond extracts. Fold in dry ingredients a little at a
time. Pour into a greased 10-inch tube pan. Bake for 60 to 70
minutes.
Variation: For regular angel food cake, eliminate the cocoa.
ANSWER Jane Freed, Perkasie, wanted a recipe for
custard pumpkin pie. Thanks to Leah Fisher, Intercourse, for
sending the following answer, which makes five 9-inch pies.

Pumpkin Pie
3 cups pumpkin sauce
2 quarts milk, heated to almost boiling
I’/« cups sugar
I'A cups brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
V* cup flour
10 eggs, well beaten
Drain cooked pumpkin well before beating or putting

Add hot milk and eggs. Beat. Bake at 400 degrees for 10
minutes. Reduce oven heat to 350 degrees and bake 30
minutes.
ANSWER—A New Jersey reader had lost her recipe for a
wonderful muffin that contained carrots, apples, raisins, etc.

recipe.
Morning Glory Muffins
2 cups white flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups sugar
4 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons cinnamon
% teaspoon cloves
Combine above ingredients. Add the following and mix
well:
4 cups apples, peeled, shredded
1 cup carrot, shredded
1 cup coconut
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped nuts
Add the following and stir until moistened
1 'A cups oil
'A cup milk
4 teaspoons vanilla
3 eggs, beaten
Line 36 muffin cups with paper liners. Fill cups 3 /« full. Bake
at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in
center comes out clean.

Farm Women Group 4 met on
Sept. 2, at the home of Elsie
Rothenberger, Boyertown, for a
“come as you are” meeting.
During the business meeting,
plans were made for seven mem
bers to attend the county conven
tion. Attending are Elsie Rothen
berger, Mary Fizz, Feme Kulp,
Lottie Hildenbrand, Geroganna
Fullerton, Virginia Taylor Sloan,
and Verna Taylor.
During the social hour, a secret
pound auction was held with Lottie
Hildenbrand acting as auctioneer.
The Ways and Means Commit
tee distributed Stanley catalogs
and will take orders until the next
meeting, which will be held at
Woodside Villa, Bectlesville.
Members will celebrate an “Every
body’s Birthday Celebration.” All
