The top winner in the Pennsyl vania All-American Dairy Show’s Junior Dairy Management Contest will receive $l,OOO this year for the first time, according to Dr. Carl Brown, contest chairman. “The Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association will contribute the $l,OOO award to recognize the knowledge and skill necessary to win this comprehensive contest This is a tremendous addition, and a wonderful show of support,” Brown added. The Pennsylvania All- American Dairy Show will be held September 22-25 at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. The dairy management contest is scheduled for Tuesday, September 23. David R. Smith, executive secretary for the Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association, said, “The Association wants to support activities that promote and en hance the dairy industry. This is a top notch contest that really exemplifies the variety of skills and information dairy farmers must demonstrate to be success ful. Last year 70 young people par ticipated in the contest which is open to all 4-H and FFA members. Other sponsors for the contest which is being held for the 11th year, include: Land O’ Lakes, Church and Dwight Arm and Hammer Ag Products, Prince Agri-Products and Milk Spe cialities, Inc. The outstanding sup port of these companies allows for cash prizes to the top 10 teams in the 4-H and FFA divisions, along with plaques, ribbons and tro phies. Lunch is provided for all parti cipants by Milk Specialities, Inc., and additional support is provided by CHR Hansen Bio Systems. The Pennsylvania All-Ameri can Dairy show, now in its 34th year, is sponsored by the Pennsyl vania Dairy and Allied Industries Association in Cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and the Pennsylvania Farm Show Commission.
