Com is in that period when a maybe rein has everyone seeking shelter. Other commodities followed suit with cover tak ing on the Boards. Wheat 4 to 7 cents low er. Com 6 to 7 cents lower. Sorghum 9 to 11 cents lower. Soybeans 30-35 cents low er. Winter wheat harvest is about a done deal, especially hard red wither wheat Very good yields and quality. Many places over 60 buihel per acre and Met 60 test weights. Look for larger numbers before the production ledger is dosed. Prices real ly took a beating this harvest season. How ever, producers compare 3.40 wheat at 60 per acre and 38 per bushel per acre with 5.40 per bushel, and they end up with about the same bottom line. Low prices and more wheat put in storage this year. Where are the export orders? Meager announcement orders this week and last week. A sprin kling of com export announcements this week vu dried out by a few sprinkles of rein in the forecast Showers moved across the southern part of the Eastern Corabelt yesterday. The Western Combclt and northern part of the Eastern Combell needs some moisture to pot the finishing touches on a record com crop. Many many acres of com now in the lasseling and pollination stage. Rains and cooler weather the next several days would be beneficial, but not craciaL A fairly good crop is already guar anteed. Elevators have not had to change their new crop basis for the past several months. Near ideal new crop weather con ditions snd lower futures brought quotes in line. The apposite of a year ago. Two markets for soybeans, old and new crop. Crushers caught in between and fighting to keep low inventories of beans, meal and oil, but yet keep customers, stay open for the rest of the Summer and not lose money. Soybean meal prices very erratic from day to day. Currently several large operations dosed, tunning short hours or doing usual seasonal maintenance and repairs. This is also the time of the year when producers and country elevators start deaning out their holding bins and getting ready for Fall harvest.
