Ida’s Notebook Ida Risser We have had a cool and dry spring in our area. Things grow rather slowly in cool weather, but my husband still brings me a bunch of asparagus each morning. It seems that I got overly anxious and put some house plants in the comer of the garden where they froze. Maybe I had better wait a firewood? Because some fruit trees died, Allen bought another cherry and another pear. He tells me that the quince is full of blossoms. He even ordered two small papaw trees that will take years to bear. But, that is okay as I have big trees that my father helped me to plant 25 years ago. They do drop their fruit and if I don’t watch carefully an animal will eat them overnight This spring we planted a row of small dogwoods on our hillside. Nearby are newly purchased black walnut trees which are doing fine. The other day we tried to trans plant some hollyhocks. They had grown together as I planted them too clsoe to each other. Now they are wilting. Not everything works out as we wish. GET DOWN TO YOUR MASSEY FERGUSON DEALER FOR INCREDIBLE DEALS ON PARTS ECKROTH BROS.
