Leadership Y for a growing Berks County FFA Contest Amanda Amoros, 17-year-old daughter of Libby Amoros of RD 1, Mohnton, and an eleventh grade agricultural science student at Twin Valley High School, won the Berks County FFA Interview Contest held recently at Oley Val ley High School. Interview contestants must write a letter applying for a job, complete a job application, and then are actually interviewed for an agricultural job of their choice by a judge. Sara Marks, 16-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tho mas Marks of Elverson, placed second in this contest. Jaimey DeHaven of Twin Valley placed Grassland FFA On March 14, Grassland FFA held its 38th annual Parent and Member Banquet at Yoder’s Restaurant Two hundred fourteen members, including parents, friends and members of the FFA, were in attendance. Randy Halting was recognized for being selected for a Star Keystone Degree in the horti culture area. Randy is a 1996 graduate of Gar den Spot High School. He was a member of the Grassland FFA for three years before attending the Browns town Vo-Tech during his senior year. Randy received his Keystone Degree as a member of the TEVOCA Chapter at Browns town Vo-tech. Josh Troxcll was recognized for receiving his American FFA Degree. William Rohrer repre sented him with the American FFA Degree which is bestowed upon only one in 1,000 mem bers in the FFA. Josh is serving as a customer service representative at the Temple Branch of the Blue Ball National Bank. His FFA achieve ments included serving as state FFA reporter from 1995-1996 and being a member of the state winning parliamentary procedure team in 1994 that received the silver medal at the national contest. FFA Members Recite Creed In One Week All 24 first-year FFA members of Mrs. Knight’s agribusiness and animal science class recited the FFA Creed in one week, which helped to earn them all their Greenhand Degree, presented to them at the official Greenhand Degree Ceremony held during this year’s National FFA Week. Adviser Mrs. Knight said, “This is a very special group of young people who share a deep love for animals and have bonded together as a family to expand their com mon interest in developing their skills in the veterinary health field. These students are part of the 66-member Harford Tech High FFA Chapter Bel Air, Md. who wish to challenge other agriculture Masses to break their record. I got to meet a lot of dif ferent people who live in different environments, which was really neat” said one Twin Valley FFA member.
