Penn State Facility Recognized For Dairy Reference Manual UNIVERSITY PARK (Centre Co.) Fourteen scholars and researchers in Penn State’s Col lege of Agricultural Sciences have been recognized by the American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE) for the third edition of "The Dairy Reference Manual.” The manual earned a Blue Rib bon Award in ASAE’s 1996 Edu cational Aids Competition. About 100 entries were displayed and judged at the ASAE Annual Meet ing. The manual was among 20 entries to receive recognition. “The Dairy Reference Manual.” a compendium of information about all facets of dairy produc tion, is designed to allow quick access to facts about such topics as ration balancing, designing a ven tilation system for a freestall bam, and identifying the causes of mas titis. It is the second revision of the original “Penn State Dairy Reference Manual,” first pub lished in 1966 and used around the world. It also promotes excel lence in those aids which repre sent agricultural engineering and through the exchange of ideas and individual recognition, contri butes to overall improvement in the use of educational aids. Grange Establishes Scholarship Foundation The Pennsylvania State Grange announces the formation of a foundation to encourage charita ble, scientific and educational ac tivities within the organization. The foundation will initially oversee two new programs: the PA State Grange Scholarship Fund and the Deaf Interpreter Scholarship Fund. The two programs join in the Santee Student Loan Fund and Leonard Rhone Scholarship Fund, which have been in existence for many years, and administered by the PA State Grange.
