ANSWER—A reader from Wysox wanted a recipe for Bel
gian waffles. Thanks to an anonymous reader for sending in
the following recipe.
Vz cup milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons oil
1 cup dairy sour cream
1 cup flour
2 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
% teaspoon baking soda
V* teaspoon salt
Place milk, egg, oil, and sour cream in a blender. Blend to
mix. Add the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and
salt. Blend at low speed just until ingredients are combined.
Bake in preheated waffle baker. Serve with ice cream and
strawberries.
ANSWER Linda Fauth, Red Lion, wanted a'recipe for
good homemade salsa to eat with tortilla chips. Thanks to
Margaret Kaltreider, Brodbecks, for sending a recipe that she
really likes.
Salsa Sauce
18-20 medium to large ripe tomatoes, peeled, chunked
4 onions, chopped fine
4 peppers, chopped fine
1 medium carrot, finely chopped
% stem celery, finely chopped
1 % -2 cups vinegar
% -1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon black pepper
1-1 Vi teaspoon sweet basil
Combine ingredients and boil together for 15-20 minutes.
Cool and freeze until ready to use. Or, fill jars with uncooked
ingredients and can by boiling in water bath for three hours.
Makes about 5-6 pints.

My address book is beginning g e t complicated when cousins
to lode quite worn. Each month I divorce and then remarry. Some
get it out of the drawer to put times, I refer to this little blue

1 box confectioners' sugar
'A cup cocoa
4 tablespoon milk
3 /« stick butter
Vanilla
Combine all ingredients and cook in double boiler until mix
ture melts. Pour into pan and cool.

glad to finish several in a year’s

seem to find something more
worthwhile to do.
Just now I’m helping to teach a
class on braiding rugs. Over the
last 15 years. I’ve made quite a
few rugs. Many of mine are simp
ly made of available wool mater
ial. Therefore, some colors do not
match as well as they should. But,
the grandchildren can usually find
one that they like. Then they will
have something to remember me
by as I’m hoping they will last a
long time.
My husband must think that
spring is on the way as he has
started cabbage and broccoli in a
new plant table that he made for
himself. It is a large table with
long legs and fluorescent lamps
overhead. For a bit I had hoped
that he was making the table for
me to transplant flowers. But, I
was disappointed and so I’U wait a
while longer as I do not like bend
ing over our back porch in the fall.
