JOSEPH, MO FEBRUARY 12, 1997 Wheat bids were under pressure, today, in reaction to USDA’s higher estimate for 96/97 soft red winter wheat ending stocks and a larger Australian crop estimate. Corn bids were slightly higher with no big sur prises reported. Soybean bids moved shaiply higher again after the supply/ demand report quoted the 96/97 carryout down IS million bushels from die previous estimate. Wheat steady to 5 cents lower. Com steady to 2 cents higher. Sorghum 2 to 4 cents higher. Soybeans 12 to 16 cents higher. USDA increased estimates for 96/97 ending stocks for soft red winter wheat. The world wheat ending stocks were slightly lower but this years Austra lian crop was raised by 1.6 million tonnes. Export sales have been nil so far this week for all commodities but an increase in wheat exports are forecast at 16.5 million tonnes, up 2.3 million tonnes. Com bids were slightly higher with very little changes at all this week. The USDA supply and demand report helped support com bids with an unchanged carryout. Soybean bids climbed shaiply higher for the fourth consecutive day, supported by a lower USDA carryout figure for 96/97. U.S. Export Sales: Nothing new to report.
