The Susquehanna River Basin Commission has resche duled its next meeting from Sept 19 to Oct 1. The 8:30 a.m. meeting is to occur at the Day Inn in Clearfield, located along Rt 879, near Exit 19 of 180. On the agenda is a consideration by the com mission of a policy/staff guidance document that pertains to settling civil penalty actions. The commission is also being asked to affirm a new formula for dividing up the com mission’s spendable budget among the mem ber states and federal government (signatory parties). Commissioners are to also be asked for rati fication of four contracts dealing with nutrient reduction, data base development, restoration of Wiconisco Creek, and acid mine drainage in the Nescopeck Creek Watershed. In other expected actions, the commission is to review accomplishment of the SRBC during the past six months and to set goals for the next six; and to make a decision on the purchasing of voice mail telephone equipment or services. The commission is also to be asked to decide on approval of four water-withdrawal project applications. In Lawrence Township in Tioga County, Ward Manufacturing, ACP Dfvision, is seek ing to get approval for the withdrawal of up to 780,000 gallons of groundwater per day from its Wells No.l, 2, and 3; and for the consump tive use of up to 500,000 gallons per day for industrial purposes. In its proposal, Ward has opted to pay the SRBC to provide compensat ory water as make-up for the consumptive use. The Mifflin Township Water Authority in Columbia County is seeking approval for the withdrawal 0f432,000 gallons of groundwater per day from Well No. PW-3, for a total system withdrawal limit of 432,000 gallons per day. The water is to be used for the public water supply in Mifflin Township. Glen Rock Water Company is seeking approval to purchase 500,000 gallons per day (based on a 30-day average) from the Yoik Water Company in York County.
