UNIVERSITY PARK (Centre Co.) —The Penn State Dairy Sci ence Club was recognized as the nation’s outstanding chapter at the 1996 American Dairy Science Association annual meeting held recently at Oregon State University. The award is based on club activities, participation in meet ings and publications. NEW WINDSOR, Md. A meeting of the Junior mem bers is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. The free catered lunch at noon will feature barbecue beef and pork, baked beans, coleslaw, wa termelon and of course ice cream. At 1 p.m. young members and perhaps the young at heart will join in the fun of the “Cowlym pics.” Volleyball will also be fea tured. to include more events for con sumers and non-agricultural stu dents. Overall, the dub focused its major activities on youth and con sumer education. The Penn State Dairyman placed first in the yearbook com petition, followed by publications from Virginia Tech and Minnesota. Marel Raub, a May graduate in dairy and animal science from Duncannon, represented Penn State in the oustanding student competition, won by Libby Hupf from the University of Minnesota. Raub earlier was named Northeast Student Affiliate Oustanding Senior and is to begin law school at Dickinson College in September. Overall, 12 undergraduate stu dents and two advisers repre sented Penn State.
