Ag Showcase Set For
Cecil County Fair
FAIR HILL, Md. Everyone
is invited to attend the 16th annual
Ag Showcase Day to be held on
Tuesday July 30, 1996 at 10 a.m.
at the Fair Hill Natural Resource
Management Area. As part of the
Cecil County Fair, Ag Showcase
Day features working demonstra
tions of the latest agricultural
equipment and technology. Stop
by any of our participating equip
ment dealers or the Cooperative
Extension Service for com
plementary passes to Ag Show
case Day. Come early for morning
refreshments and donuts and plan
to stay all day for demonstrations
and the Farm Bureau Woman’s
lunch available at noon.
This year’s educational prog
ram will focus on Farm Safety, a
very important but often over
looked topic. Agriculture, with 26
deaths per 100.000 workers is
consistently near the top in work
related fatalities and five times the
average of all industries com
bined. Mr. Charles Wobd of the
Maryland Fire and Rescue Insti
tute will discuss how to recognize
and avoid many of the potential
farm related hazards. Mr. Frank
Muller, Chief of Cecil County’s
Emergency Management Services
will follow up with a discussion of
the resources available in Cecil
County should a farm related acci
dent occur. Union Hospital will
also be present to screen for skin
cancer, a common work related
health problem associated with
agriculture.
This year’s equipment demon
strations will include:
• The latest hay making equip
ment including all new disk mow
ers and round balers in action.
• A tractor comparison course
where qualified drivers can test
drive new tractor models from
Case-IH, Ford/New Holland, and
John Deere.
• Tractor/loader and skid loader
demonstrations to help you find
the machine that is right for your
farm.
• No-till drills tackling Fair
Hill’s rocky soils.
• An all day display of antique
tractor and equipment by the areas
many antique equipment
enthusiasts.
Ag Showcase Day is made pos
sible through the efforts of the
Cecil County Fair Board, the Uni
versity of Maryland Cooperative
Extension Service, the Depart
ment of Natural Resources, the
Natural Resources Conservation
Service, and most importantly the
many equipment dealers and ag
service providers. Participating
dealers include: Ag Industrial
Equipment Co., Biggs, Inc., W.N.
