LORETTA GOLDEN
Cambria Co . Correspondent
Loretta has been the Cambria
County correspondent for
approximately 114 years. Bom
and raised in Johnstown, she had
no experience with farming until
she married her husband, Vince
Golden, in 1978.
A former secretary math
teacher. Loretta is now a stay-at
home mom. Her five children
include: twins, Katie and Beth,
age IS, Andy, age 13. Julie who
is 11. and Emily, age 9. They live
on Golden Farms, a 300 acre
cash crop operation specializing
in growing and marketing spe
cialty grain such as buckwheat
and sunflower. The farm is
located in the Portage-Munster
area of Cambria County.
Recordkeeping for the farm
operation is her job along with
anything else which may help the
operation run more smoothly. A
good title for any mother of
active children is “logistics man
ager” making sure that every
one is where they are supposed to
be when they are supposed to be
there.
While not too familiar with the
technical aspects of fanning, she
enjoys writing the articles which
are family-oriented and those
dealing with education, cooking
and crafts. “Writing for the Lan
