JOSEPH, MO MAY 29, 1996 Grain and aoybean bids fell ihaiply lower in volatile trading. Heavy profit tak ing on the board and some optimiim on the traders part drove bids downward. Wheat 25 to 30 cents lower. Com 9 to 17 cents lower. Sorghum 21 to 40 cents lower. Soy ;ks&toys 20 Years in tlie HAY COVER Business FOR NEAREST DEALER CALL: 1-800-387-7765 beam 10 to 27 cents lower. Winter wheat harvest continues in Texas and moving into Oklahoma where fair yields have been repotted. Spring wheat planting in the Northern areal has made some headway due to recent sunshine. However, they ate still behind the norm and rain is in the fore cast for this weekend. Heavy fund selling on the board today was a pressure factor. Com bids fell sharply due to profit taking on the board. Hie com crop is looking good so far with beneficial rains offering weakness to bids. Eastern Com Belt got a few more acres of com planted over the holiday weekend but parts of Illinois and Indiana fell further behind and many are giving up on com for this year. Tornados, torential down pours and floods covered some of the com that was up and looking good back over into the Western Com Belt Hie continued lack of export business this week, weighed on all commodities. Bean bids followed wheat and com lower doe to profit taking. Planting was noted in some areas of the Midwest after a drying spell Ohio and east faired better than Illinois and Indiana. Heavy rains this past weekend flooded fields in many places, including parts of the Western Com Belt. Plenty of time yet to plant soybeans but many far mers ate getting antsy.
