Dr. Tim Elkner, Lancaster
County horticultural agent spoke
about his background as an exten
sion agent in Texas before joining
Lancaster County Penn State
Cooperative Extension last year.
Elkner provided some details of
his work at a recent interview at his
office.
What proves challenging for
Elkner is the diversity of horticul
ture in the county, encompassing
not only fruit production but veget
ables and turf.
“So many areas to cover can
prove really frustrating at times,”
he admitted, indicating the calls
that come in regarding some of the
