According to Julie Sessions, director of Partners fra- a Safer Community, survey results show advisers rely on the cooperative extension system and private in dustry for most of their safety edu cation information. The advisers tend to learn about new materials at conventions, exhibits, meetings, and seminars. “However, many respondents noted they experience difficulty in locating appropriate resources to use in the classroom,” said Ses sions. “When I asked these indivi duals what kinds of materials they used and what they found most helpful, it was not uncommon to get responses such as T don’t have any’ or “Very little I have is up-to date’.” Of the resources educators do have, the most popular materials cited include audio visual mater ials, such as videos and films, and hands-on safety training.
