Common, Page In Holstein Hall, Weimers (Continued from Page B 19) Creed in has served the dairy industry in many capacities including the Cumberland County DHIA Board and as president, Holstein Board and president, president and director of the Cum berland County Extension Board and as the Carlisle Fair Dairy Superintendent. Creedin works at numerous sales helping prepare cattle. His most enjoyable sale work is with the Penn State Dairy Science club on the Nittany Lion Fall Classic Sale. The Dairy Sci ence Club recognized him in the 1995 as the Dairy Expo Dedicatee. Creedin has served on many Pennsylvania Holstein commit tees including Sale, Show and Membership committees. He served as State Director and as a delegate to the National Conven tion on a number of occasions. Creedin also serves his church and community in many ways. He has been Sunday School secretary for over 40 years and a lay assis tant at St. John’s Lutheran Church for over 30 years. He served as a 4-H dairy leader for 22 years. He has been a member of the South Middleton Fire Company for 16 years and is also an ambulance driver and treasurer of the Ambu lance Company. Creedin Comm an has always been interested in the welfare of others and has helped many peo ple develop their interests in the dairy business. The Pennsylvania Holstein Association is pleased to honor Distinguished Breeders tee into the Pennsylvania Holstein Hall of Fame. 1996 DISTINGUISHED YOUNG HOLSTEIN BREEDER Michael and Cindy Weimer, Emlenton, Clarion County received the Pennsylvania Distin guished Young Holstein Breeder Award at the Pennsylvania Hols tein Convention in Williamsport Mike and Cindy began farming in 1987. They owned 45 head and bought 20 bred heifers from Les ter Poust This group of heifers along with cows purchased from Lester became the nucleus of their Solid Gold milking herd. The herd of 45 cows averaged 17.250 M 632 F 543 P, today, their 70 cows average 25.268 M 926 F 830 P on 3'times a day milking with a BAA of 106.5 including 7 excellent cows and 27 very good cows. Their goal is to increase their production and the marketing of their registered cattle. Mike and Cindy ate both very active in Holstein, church and community activities. Mike serves on the State Board of Directors, he was the 1995 State Convention Sale Chairman, serves on the State Sale Committee, served as chair man of the Program Development and Evaluation Committee and as chairman of the 1993 Northwest Championship Show. Cindy served as chairperson of the 1995 Ladies Day Committee, on the State Activities Committee and is secretary of the Clarion/ Venango Holstein Club. Committee on the Value of Regis tered Holsteins, assistant chair man of the 1995 National Conven tion Sale and a delegate to the National Convention. He is also an approved judge, working shows in Pennsylvania and Mary land. Mike is also an auctioneer. He has worked four National Sales and many state and local sales. Cindy, a Communications Spe cialist with the American Dairy Association & Dairy Council Mid Hast, also had the opportunity to attend the 1996 Young Dairy Leaders Institute in Tampa, FL. Both Mike and Cindy are active in the Salem United Church of Christ, serving on the Consitory Board and as a Sunday School teacher. Mike and Cindy are very proud of their highest scoring cow. Their investment in Registered Holstein has been financially ben eficial over the past eight years. They have sold cows, bulls and embryos to at least 13 countries and many Al< organizations. They credit their merchandizing to allow them to be in the dairy busi ness with a relatively small herd. Mike and Cindy are the proud parents of two children Sarah, 6, and Spencer, 4. The Pennsylvania Holstein Association is pleased to recog nize Mike and Cindy Weimer as the 1996 Distinguished Young Holstein Breeden. Their informa tion will be submitted to the National Holstein Association in consideration for the National Distinguished Young Breeder to be named in Fort Worth, TX in June. SOLICITORS The Pennsylvania Holstein Association recognized their membenhip solicitors at their Awards Program held at their Annual Convention at the Genetti Hotel, Williamsport. The efforts of all the member ship solicitors around the state is tremendous. A lot of time and effort ii put in by all solicitors, but special recognition goes to two individuals who have done out standingly well in membership solicitation. The following gentlemen signed up 5-9 new members or 10-15 renewals and each will receive Pennsylvania Holstein clotting for their efforts. They include: Randy Kitchen, North umberland Montour; James Houser, Centre. . There ate three clubs that have already reached their membership goal for 1996, each received a $2OO cash award for their efforts.
