When I can stay inside and work on braiding a rug, then I delight in seeing our meadow cov ered with snow. Some fields are brown but the sloping ground to the Conestoga River is still white from the January snow. My husband keeps himself busy in his woodworking shop. He is planing large cherry boards in order to use them for furniture. The other year he made a walnut bookcase but then we had no room for it and so it is in our son’s house. Some birdhouses were given away to other folks. My neighbor and I go together to a Bible Study group. We often take an older lady along with us. She is very forgetful and must be reminded of the time that we will pick her up. So an hour before, I telephone her and even then she forgets her hearing aid or her glas ses. Our group cancelled their January meeting and so we will cover two chapters this month. Missionaries from Ethiopia shared stories of their lives with our church members recently. An informal afternoon was spent tast ing fruit from their country and hearing about their schools. In Ethiopia there is 95% illiteracy.
