    State Program Approves Matching Funds For Fairs
HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.) Agricul
ture Secretary Charles C. Brosius announced
that capital improvement projects at Pennsylva
nia Fairs will get a boost from matching funds
approved by the Fair Fund Committee
Penn-sylvania Fair Board.
“We’re pleased to provide matching funds for
improvements to Pennsylvania’s fairs,” Brosius
said. “Pennsylvania fairs provide food, enter
tainment, and leamii g experiences for millions
of residents and visitors every year.”
The Fair Fund Committee recently approved
funding for 32 matching projects at Pennsylva
nia fairs. A total of $559,243 is available from
the $3.7 million Fair Fund for this purpose.
The Fair Program, which is administered by
the Agriculture Department, appropriates these
funds to improve buildings and grounds, acquire
new land, or construct new facilities.
Following is a county-by-counly listing of
those capital improvement projects that will
receive a matching grant from the Fair Fund
Committee.
• Beaver County: Located in Rochester, the

grant to purchase 39.5 acres of land.

ing area.

$25,000 grant to construct an exhibit building.

repair the dairy bam.
• Cambria County: Located in Ebensburg, the

$25,000 grant to extend the capon building,

Centre County Grange Fair was approved for a
$25,000 grant to build a facility for Emergency
Medical Services, including an office and meet
ing room.
• Chester County; Located in Kimberton, the
Kimberton Community Fair was approved for a
$16,550 grant to build a livestock judging pavi
lion and upgrade kitchen venting and fire extin
guishing systems.
* Clearfield County: Located in Clearfield,
the Clearfield County Fair was approved for a
$11,713 grant to renovate the grandstand.
• Clinton County: Located in Mackeyville,
the Clinton County Fair was approved for a
$25,000 grant to renovate the fair office and first
aid building, and provide chain link fence and
roadway improvements.
• Columbia County; Located in Bloomsburg,
the Columbia County Agriculture, Horticulture,
and Mechanical Association was approved for a
$25,000 grant to install a metal roof over the
band-shell, and build restrooms and dressing
rooms for the bandshell performers.
• Crawford County: Located in Meadville, the
Crawford County Fair was approved for a
$1,575 grant to tar and chip a roadway.
• Erie County: Located in Wattsburg, the
Wattsbuig/Erie County Fair was approved for a
$12,500 grant to construct a grandstand.
• Huntingdon County: Located in Hunting
don, the Huntingdon County Agricultural Asso
ciation was approved for a $13,000 grant to con
struct a bam with stalls, and water and electrical
service.
• Jefferson County: Located in Dubois, the
Dubois Ag & Youth Fair was approved for a
$25,000 grant to purchase approximately 100
acres of land.
• Jefferson County: Located in Punxsutaw
ney, the Jefferson County Fair Authority was
approved for a $25,000 grant to construct two
buildings for sheep, chicken, and rabbit exhibits.
• Lancaster County; Located in Elizabeth
town, the Elizabethtown Community Fair, Inc.
was approved for a $11,850 grant to construct
and pave an asphalt roadway.
• Lawrence County: Located in New Castle,
the Lawrence County Farm Show, Inc. was
approved for a $9,000 grant to construct a
retaining wall in front of the grandstand.
' • Lycoming County: Located in Hughesville,
the Lycoming County Fair was approved for a
$25,000 grant to renovate a school exhibit build
ing, roadway, and chain link fence.
• McKean County: Located in Smcthport, the
McKean County Fair Association was approved
for a $25,000 grant to build a grandstand.
• Mercer County: Located in Stoneboro, the
Mercer County Agricultural Society was
approved for a $9,398 grant to renovate an
office.
* Potter County: Located in Shinglehouse, the
Potter County Fair Association was approved
for a $7,503 grant to construct a horse bam.

the Beaver Community Fair was approved for a
$2,172 grqnt to upgrade the heating system for
the Memorial Building.
• Susquehanna County: Located in Kingsley,
the Harford Agricultural Society was approved
for a $25,000 grant to install a sewage storage
tank, including site preparation.
• Tioga County: Located in Wellsboro, the
Tioga County Agricultural Association was
approved for a $2,500 grant to purchase new
outdoor lighting.
• Union County: Located in Mifflinburg, the
Union County West End Fair was approved for
an $B4l grant to purchase a new pump and water
tank.

approved for a $25,000 grant to reshape and
grade driveway and parking lot, and rehabil
itate a stream and stream bank.
• Westmoreland County; Located in Greens

Recreation Association was approved for a
$19,200 grant to install a water line and two fire
hydrants.
• Wyoming County: Located in Tunkhan
nock, the Kiwanis Wyoming County Fair, Inc.
was approved for a $25,000 grant to construct a
horse barn.
