for being named York County’s outstanding club.
York County Selects Glen Rock
As Outstanding 4

YORK (York Co.) For the
fourth time in five years, the Glen
Rock Community 4-H Club has
been named York County’s Out
standing club.
That announcement was the
highlight of the annual York Coun
ty 4-H Achievement Night, held
October 5 at the 4-H Center. As
part of their recognition, the club
was presented with a beautifully
decorated sheet cake which mem
bers opted to freeze as a special
treat for their own upcoming annu
al achievement awards program.
Glen Rock club’s 32 members
helped to compile an impressive
scrapbook of club and community
projects. They picked up litter
along several rural roads of the
area. For Valentine’s Day, they
made personalized favors for the
young guests at New Life for
Children. During the Irving Shoe
Store’s annual Shoe Drive for the
Homeless, club members helped
sort and size hundreds of pairs of
donated shoes. To help fund these
various projects, members staged
several petting zoos at area com
munity events.

ognition during the county awards
programs, including two of the
outstanding officer awards. Kelly
Beard was honored as outstanding
historian in the clubs, while Jay'
Rishel was honored as the out
standing secretary. Named out
standing news reporter was the
Beef Club’s Amy Trowbridge, and
outstanding treasurer was Heather
Jasienski, from the York County
4-H Council.
Outstanding rookies, or begin
ning 4-H members, were Tyler
Devilbiss, Jefferson Club, and
Brandy Bankert, Sheep Club.
Junior outstanding winners were
Gabrielle Dissinger, Glen Rock,
and Joshua Spahr, Davidsburg.
Outstanding senior winners were
Tanya Thom an, Southwest Dairy
Club, and Paul Kitzmiller, Davids
burg Club.
Nine senior and 11 junior mem
bers were named outstanding pro
ject award winners. Seniors were
Tanya Thoman, clothing and tex
tiles: Denise Lauer, leadership;
Lucas Kraft, rabbit; Philip Baer,
foods and nutrition; and Tammy
Dise, leisure education. Also, Paul
Kitzmiller, sheep; Lillian Eddin-

ger, horse; Rachael Price, public
speaking; and Jason Baer, wood
science.
Among the junior winners were
Kelly Jo Bankert, child develop
ment; Rijelle Kraft, goat; Joshua
Spahr, leisure education; Mandy
Brown, public speaking; Gabrielle
Dissinger, clothing and textiles;
and Beth Baer, health. Also among
the junior project winners were
Jessica Luckenbaugh. pet care;
Kim Druck, foods and nutrition;
Amanda Arnold, horse; Melissa
Stough, poultry; and Heather
Bankert, sheep.
Teen leadership recognition
went to members of several com
munity and project clubs. Recog
nized from the Wellsville Boots
and Saddle Club were Jessie But
ler. Andrea Sebright. Tammy
Wirt, Amanda Arnold. Sabrina
Asper, Tabitha Eimerbrink, Joy
Butler and Hanna Stauffer. Teen
leader recognition went to Davids
burg Club members Brett Frey,
Paul Kitzmiller, and Rachael
Price.
Glen Rock members honored
for teen leadership included Philip
Baer, Christine Bosley, Jay Rishel,
Amy Dise, Kelly Beard, Cindy
Dehoff and Tammy Dise. Thomas
ville Club memb ;rs Heather Gohn
and Denise' Lauer, and
Winterstown-Felton Club’s Wen
dy Rexroth were also cited for teen
leadership project work.
Four beginning 4-H’ers were
honored for completing “Clover
bud” award forms. They were Sara
Myers, Alicia Wilson, Jarah
Spahr, and Andrea Yohe.
Keystone Awards were won by
more than 30 of the county’s 4-H
members. Seniors included Sabri
na Asper, Kelly Beard, Elizabeth
Kann, Denise Lauer, Jason Baer,
Tammy Dise, Paul Kitzmiller,
Rachael Price, Philip Baer, Lillian
Eddinger, Lucas Kraft and Tanya
Thoman.
Junior Keystone Award winners
were Amanda Arnold, Heather
Bankert, Megan Banker!, Mandy
Brown, Tyler Devilbiss, Kim
Druck, Matt Luckenbaugh, Beth
Baer, Kelly Jo Bankert, and
Lauren Bortner. Also David Criss,
Gabrielle Dissinger, Rijelle Kraft,
Elizabeth Schneeman, Brandy
Bankert, Mandi Bankert, Lindsey
Bortner, Jeffrey Devilbiss, Mindy
Donnan, Jessica Luckenbaugh and
Joshua Spahr.
