The Bucks County 4-H Swine Show and Sale was recently held at the Perkiomenville Auction Facility. The 4-H Swine Show and Sale is the culmination of a program that is designed to help youth develop an understanding of feeding, fit ting, and showing a market animal. Youth who participate also have to keep accurate records and leant about the pork industry. The support of the community, private industry and the entire 4-H’ers family is essential in pro viding the 4-H members with a successful project experience. This year’s swine program was unique in that 14 members from downtown Warminster each raised a pig for the sale. The “urbanites” did a terrific job with the reserve champion hog coming from their bam. The Bucks County champion hog was shown by David Lach man, age 11, from Doylestown. David is an active member of the Unami 4-H Club. His prize win ning pig weighed 250 pounds and was purchased by Hatfield Quality Meats for $2.45 per pound. The reserve champion hog was shown by Dennis Lipschutz of Warminster. Andrew Crooke of New Hope, an active member of the Bucking ham 4-H Club, received $1.95 per pound for his champion pair of togs. The pair was purchased by Hatfield Quality Meats.
