Pop And Granddaughter Make Great Pair LINDA WILLIAMS Bedford Co. Correspondent BEDFORD (Bedford Co.) —Bob Smith might be 78 but he's not about to stop showing cattle, at least not anytime soon. And, he’s hoping his pretty, smart granddaughter, Beth, who was recently accepted at the Phi ladelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, might still find time to help him. The two started as a pair show ing Guernseys for Misti Meadows Farm when Beth was only eight “I’m 23 now,” she said. “So, that’s a long time.” Beth has been both state and national Guernsey queen. “Pap loves to tell the story of the time when I was a little girl and crawled in between a couple of the cows to take a nap. Someone came along and wondered if it was a dummy in there. “Oh, I don’t know'if she’s a dummy or not” answered Bob. “But she’s my granddaughter!” Bob admits he’s tried to retire. “I sold all of my cows in 1991,” lie says. “But, Beth kept Kers.” She now has a herd of 21 with five milk cows.
