For the sixth year in a row, Casey High, Lititz, won the grand champion honors at the Lancaster County 4-H steer show. This year’s winner, another crossbred, weighed in at 1.160 pounds for the son of Larry and Mae High. High also had the champion heifer. Reserve champion steer honors went to Hope Long with her first place heavyweight at 1,216 pound s. Hope is die 10 ye*r-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Long, New Providence. The large prize of the day went to Dean Livingood, IS, who was pronounced the best showman of the day and thus the winner of the Intell steer. Lancaster City’s morn ing newspaper Intelligencer Jour nal has made the annual steer award to the winning 4-H showper son for 36 years. Dean’s brother Dale won the 1994 Intell steer, and before the year’s end, two Intell steers will reside at Momingside Drive. The brothers are sons of Earl and Joyce Livingood. Winning $3OO from Lancaster Fanning for reserve showmanship was Jill Hofimes, Marietta. Jill is the 15 year-old daughter of Robert and Linda Hoffines. She also had the reserve champion heifer. Jill has been showing for-three years and is a sophomore at Donegal High School. The top three placings in each class are as follows; Class 1 (936-1-50): 1. John Schmidt; 2. Denise Bollinger; 3. Ryan Garber. Class 2 (1060-1130): 1. Danielle Buchen; 2. Deidra Buchen; 3. Abraham Smith. Class 3 (1130-1184); 1. Casey High; 2. Jessica Schmidt; 3. Jen Lentz. Class 4 (1206-1272); 1. Hope Long; 2.
