The Cumberland workshops will be at the Cumberland County Extension Office, downstairs meeting room, on June 20 and June 22. The program runs from 8:45 a.m. to’4 p.m. each day. The same program, which is geared to the needs of intermediate and beginning computer operators, will be conducted at Hoss’s Restaurant, Rt.3o east, Gettys burg, on June 21 and June 23. Meals will be at cost at each location. Advanced registration with pay- mcntofs9s by June 16 is required for this program. Agrilcndcrs and agribusiness are pledging financial support, which may enable us to rebate some meal or registration cost to participants. Virginia Farm Management Extension staff have developed the “Computer Classroom on Wheels” and have used it extensively with great success in. Virginia. They have 16 notebook computers, each with extended keyboard and mouse to equip each pupil with the MS-DOS and Windows environ ment that is common to most farm computers. Instructors use efficient over head projection equipment to dis play the materials being taught All this equipment can be packed con veniently into a van for transport to any place where a group can be assembled in a classroom. Instructors from V.P.I. will be Gordon Groover and Jim Pease. Tim Beck and Laura Watts of Penn State Extension will be assisting them with our workshops. Topics will be presented in 'thing modules, each lasting three hours. Four modules will be presented at tach site. These will include: • Introduction To Farm Busi ness Computing. This will include basic skills to operate Windows based software and a brief over view of hardware and software applications to agriculture. • Introduction to Farm Record Keeping with “Quicken”. Intro duce you to keeping your farm records, check writing, statement reconciliation, and financial reports. • Intermediate Farm Record Keeping. Provide you with details on customizing “Quicken” to your farm operation, enterprise accounts, and generating financial reports. • Farm Management Using “Lotus 1-2-3”. Introduce you to spreadsheet, budgets, and “what if?” analysis or Introduction to “Farm Trac”, field and pesticide ITDOESA BODYGOOD.
