LOUIS, Mo. —Purina Mills, Inc. will build a new feed plant in the Chambersburg, Pennsylvania-Hagerstown, Mary land area. The plant will serve the growing markets for dairy, hog, horse and poultry feeds in Mary land. Pennsylvania, northern Vir ginia and West Virginia. The new facility will produce up to 130,000 tons of bulk feeds per year and feature state-of-the art equipment to produce a full product line, says Doyle Martin, regional Vice President. “We are nearing capacity at the plants that serve this important area— Harrisburg and Lancaster, Pen nsylvania. The Chambersburg- Hagerstown area is in a rapidly growing agricultural area with access to excellent rail and truck SRBC To Consider Final Regulations HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.) —The Susquehanna River Basin Commission will meet at 9 a.m. on May 11, at The Inn at Turkey Hill, Bloomsburg. Action items listed on the meet ing agenda include the following: 1. Possible adoption of a final rulemaking action on the Omnibus Package of Regulatory Revisions that were first proposed in May 1994. Many changes have been made in the original proposal as a result of comments received at nine public hearings; 2. Action on seven project review applications; 3. Consideration and possible adoption of a policy for SRBC project approvals vis-a-vis other signatory approvals; 4. Consideration and possible adoption of a policy on the use of and the Commission’s Water Management Fund; 5. Adoption of FY-96 budget revisions: 6. This new plant will give us the additional capacity we need to supply the area with the most advanced dairy, hog, horse and poultry feeds, and allow us to expand our growth of other lines at Harrisburg and Lancaster by reducing capacity restrictions,” Martin says. Construction will begin as soon as Purina Mills completes final negotiations for land and obtains necessary permits. The facility should begin operations in the fall of 1996. Purina Mills is the largest sup plier of animal feeds in the United States. The company recently announced that it would build a new feed plant in Statesville, North Carolina. Its headquarters is in St Louis, Missouri. budget; 7. The 25th anniversary spotlight will highlight the Commission’s historical involvement in water quality management and include an award presentation to a group from the Bloomsburg area that has been involved in monitoring the water quality of the river. A separate news release will be issued detailing the contents of the spotlight presentation. The 25th anniversary observance will con tinue through the spring of 1996.
