Wholesale Fruit Growers,
Shippers Sought
For Directory
HARRISBURG (Dauphin Co.)
To promote Pennsylvania’s
tree fruit industry. Agriculture Se
cretary Charles C. Brosius is seek
ing the names of wholesale fruit
growers, packers and shippers to
be included in a new directory.
In the past, retail fruit growers
have been given the opportunity to
be listed in the “Consumer’s
Guide to Pennsylvania Farm Mar
kets.” However, in keeping with
Gov. Tom Ridge’s promise to pro
mote Pennsylvania’s leading in
dustry, Brosius said he believed it
appropriate to create a new direc
tory for wholesale fruit growers,
packers, and shippers.
“Buyers could use this booklet
as a guide to some of the best tree
fruit in the nation,” Brosius said.
The directory will list whole
sale fruit growers, packers, and
shippers of apples, peaches, nec
tarines, pears, tart and sweet cher
ries, plums, and other tree fruit
Tliose involved in the whole
sale tree fruit industry who are in
terested in being listed in the
directory should request an appli
cation from the Agriculture De
partment.
To obtain an application, con
tact Mike Varner, Bureau of Mar

Agriculture Department, 2301
North Cameron Street, Harris
burg. PA 17110-9408, (717)

Applications must be received
by May 31, to be included in the
directory.
