B2o*Uncaster Farming, Saturday, April 8, 1995 Cumberland 4-H Sheep The second meeting of the Cumberland County 4-H Condo quinet Sheep Club was held on March IS at the Witter’s home. The president, Wendy Holtry, called the meeting to order. Zach Reed led the Pledge to the Flag and John Witter led the 4-H Pledge. Hocker passed out the copies of the by-laws and roundup rules. Mrs. Witter passed out the benefit auction packets and gave instruc tions on completing the forms. A committee was formed to plan the June 10 Sheep Clinic Workshop. The club voted to purchase T-shirts for all members. Two members joined the club this year. Their names are Natalie Lobo and Greg Ellerman. The club also has another leader this year, Mrs. Ethel Myers. The next meeting is set for April 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Mr. Mock er’s home. The March meeting of the Cum berland County 4-H Livestock Club was held at 7:30 p.m. at the West Pcnnsboro Fire Hall on March 13. The meeting began with a work shop that required the 4-H’ers to identify the different body parts of goats, sheep, steers, and swine. At 8:30 p.m., the business meeting was called to order by President Michelle Comman. The 4-H pledge was led by Rick Foreman and the Pledge of Alle giance by Lucas Nailor. At 9:OS p.m. the meeting was adjourned. Refreshments were served by Suzie Lieb. There will be a movie shown called “Questioning of Ethics,” and there will also be a business meeting. If you would like to raise hogs as a project, it is not too late to sign up for this year’s show sea son. Anyone who is eight years old as of January 1, 1995 is wel come to join our club. For more information, call the Farm and Home Center, at (717) 394-6851, and ask for Chester Hughes. Broken Bit 4-H The Broken Bit 4-H Horse and Pony Club met on March 16 at the Mt. Airy Fire Hall. Fifteen mem bers and three leaders were present. The 1995 teen leaders will be Kristy Ftybarger, Samara Shuster- Edelson, Jodell Stahl, Lisa Pan nabecker, and Heather Moyer. The club is planning a driving clinic, showmanship clinics, and a trip to Penn National. The April meeting will be on the 20th at 7 p.m. at the Mt. Airy Fire Hall. Tammy Long will be doing a first-aid clinic and demon stration for the kids. Tammy works tor Edelson and Thaler Equine Associates, who arc donat ing some of the materials for the first aid kits,. Mrs. St. Clair had refreshments. On March 10, Mrs. Fierer from the Susquehanna Service dogs came and gave a demonstration of how they train their dogs (services they provide for the handicapped.) On March 20, a few club mem bers went to Harding Elementary School to do a demonstration for the Ist graders. Every child was interested, but mainly just wanted to pel the dogs. They listened very well and had a lot of questions. Club meeting is on April 20. The club also is going to the Har risburg Airport April 22 at 10 a.m. Clover Bunch 4-H Prep Club At the last meeting of the Clover Bunch 4-H Prep Club, the Finelli family of Sergeantsville, N.J. brought in all types of horse equip ment to show to the club. The club learned parts of the saddle, bridle, and even how to put it bn the horse. The group also learned whjrihis equipment is needed on the horse.
