Dennis has been a Farm Show commissioner for 16 years and has both the background and experi ence to do an outstanding job.” With 16 acres under roof, the sprawling Farm Show Building includes seven exhibit halls, a large and small arena, cafeteria and meeting rooms. Paved parking lots make up the remainder of the 60-acre site. Three major agricultural shows are con ducted annually at the Farm Show Complex—the Pennsylvania All-American Dairy Show, Keystone International Lives tock Exposition and Pennsylvania State Farm Show. The facility is home of the Harrisburg Heat soccer team and plays host to 60 annual trade shows such as the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show, Auto Show and Home Buil ders Show. “The Farm Show, Livestock Exposition and Dairy Show are very important to our agriculture community,” Grumbine said, “and the quality of animals represented here are second to none. Premiums from these shows are used by family farms to enhance their genetic base, with the ultimate benefac tor being the consumer through things like leaner meats. But in order for that to happen, you have to have a forum like this Complex for competitive livestock shows.” He added, “There are a variety of livestock shows and activities for the young people, which keeps them challenged mentally and physically. It teaches them about responsibili ty and gives a feeling of accomplishment.” Grumbine graduated from the Eastern Lebanon County High School in 1965, where he served as president of the Future Farmers of America and received the Keystone Farmer Award and American Farmer Degree. The immediate past-president of the Pennsylvania Livestock Association, Grumbine was inducted into the Livestock Hall of Fame in 1992. He has also served as chairman of the Key stone International Livestock Exposition, president of the Pennsylvania Swine Breeders Cooperative and holds membership in many community and agricultural related organizations. Along with his wife Barbara and sons Daryl and Darren, Grumbine raises purebred Dorsets and crops on his 300-acre farm. They own and operate the Evergreen Tractor Com pany, an official dealership for Bobcat Con struction and Farm Equipment.
