Devotions by Mary Lou Shel ton was followed by a business meeting. Farmer missionary Catherine Gregory gave a resumd of “A Trip to China.” The usual greeting in this country of one billion people was “walk in peace.” Catherine saw congestion everywhere in th» cities, the streets, the buses with people; trays of food and geese. Living quarters had a small apart ment holding two to three fami lies, five occupants in one small room, different day and night renters of the same room. Two most amazing reports seem unbe lievable in this country becoming modernized: 1. A steel foundry completely “manned” by women. 2. Road building carried on by lit eral hand and foot application of the construction materials. This lovely “Home” meeting, unusual refreshments, and conge nial fellowship made this a most pleasant afternoon. The challenge of the song “Brighten the Comer Where You Are” ended the meet ing. ■ ll l-»:l lal iiiiiii ~ m hIIHMimMIHMIMIIIIIII avy-Duty 'ding Door bracks & lardware Walls ifmg Rt. 322 Berks Society 1 Berks County Society of Farm After the business meeting, mem- Women Group 1 met at the home ber . s renewed memories as they of Bettye Wegman, Oley, for its reviewed their past year books.
