Correspondent MECHANICSBURG (Cum berland Co.) — Talent and the fashions abounded during the Make It Yourself With Wool state competition held at the Holiday Inn recently. Those who showed they were especially adept with that fabric won some great prizes and in some cases a trip to the National Make It Yourself With Wool competition in Washington, D.C. The first-place winner in the Pre-teen category at the state con test was Elizabeth Ruzyck from S'cotrun. Second place in the pre-teen category was Heather Carleton of Darlington. She won with a navy blue jacket coordinated with a red plaid jacket. With her top placing, Elizabeth won a new Baby Lock sewing machine. In the junior division for ages 13 to 16, the winner was Debbie Black of Boswell. Her entry included stirrup pants with a matching jacket and a hand-knit sweater. Debbie’s victory earned her some fabric and trip to the national competition that is sched uled for Feb. 8 to 11. Winners of the Junior competition were Debbie Black, left, first place, and Julie Sechler, runner-up. Second place in the junior divi sion was taken by Julie M. Sechler of Myersdale. She made a straight skirt and a Chanel-style jacket. Jenn Black of Boswell also won a trip to the national competi tion and some fabric by capturing first Place in the senior division for ages 17 to 24. Jenn’s entry consisted of navy blue wool gauge wide-leg slacks, a vest, and a long jacket. Lori Pfoutz of Manheim won second Place in the senior division with a mid-length teal wool dress.
