Veterinarian Dr. Grant Stufft received the “Friends of 4-H” Aware at the Mifflin County 4-H Leaders Recognition Banquet here at Granville United Methodist Edu cation Building. FFA Grassland FFA Andrew Horning of Mohnton and a member of the Grassland FFA Chapter has been named a national finalist in competition for the National FFA Agricultural Electri fication Proficiency Award. Andrew is eligible to compete for national honors in the Agricul tural electrification Proficiency Award program at the National FFA convention in Kansas City, MO, Nov. 10-12. Stuffi provides health care for 4-H animals. His wife, Carrie, and children are also involved in 4-H. The 4-H Junior Leaders arrange the dinner and program as a way to thank their leaders. 4-H Junior Leader president Amy Laughlin HAPPENINGS Award. The award is one of 29 pro ficiency awards presented annually at local, state and national levels to recognize FFA members for achievements in activities leading to careers in agriculture. Homing will receive a plaque, a check for $250, and partially paid travel expenses to the National FFA convention, where he will compete against three other agricultural elec trification national finalists. Greg Baumgardner, Jane Beightol, Bryan Haines, Ken Reed, and Terry Dillman received pins for completing their first year as lead ers. Fifth year awards pins wSht to Joy Boreman, Deb Fisher, Tracy Reesman, and Darv Yoder. Marcy Bowersox and Hazel Reed received pins for 10 years of service, and Pat Dupert earned a 15-year pin. The Decatur 4-H Club honored Vivian Mowery for her 27 years of leadership with a plaque. Mowery retired this year as Decatur 4-H community leader. More than 75 people attended the evening event, including the rest of the junior leaders officers —vice president Beth Ann Shade, treasurer Liza North, secretary Sauna Henry, and news reported Betsy Glenney. Junior leaders’ advisers are Suzanne Fisher and Betsy Coyle. Extension Director Dave Filson introduced representative Ruth C. Rudy, who then presented a $5,000 check to Amy Laughlin. The money came from a Legislative Initiative Grant and will be used for repairs and renovations to the 4-H owned Camp Penn Roosevelt.
