The sixteenth annual Union Coun ty 4-H and FFA Junior Livestock Sale was held at the West End Fairgrounds in Laurelton on August S. This year’s sale grossed $35,362, which topped the pre vious sale record set in 1990. Forty-one Union County youth participated in this year’s sale. A total of eight rabbit meat pens, 10 steers, 34 hogs, and 38 market lambs were sold by auctioneer Bryan D. Imes. Following the sale the buyers were treated to roast lamb sandwiches that were pro vided by Mountain View Farm with the aid of Dan Snyder Cus tom Butchering and the Scarlet-D Restaurant. This year’s grand champion market steer was purchased by Robert Hamm of the Country Cupboard Restaurant & Shops of Lewisburg for $3.75 a pound. The reserve champion market steer was purchased by Steve Kreisher and Dennis Keefer for the West Milton State Bank at $3 a pound. The 1.045-pound steer was owned by Kelly Keefer of Mifflin burg. The Hereford/Limousin cross steer was bred by her parents Elnore and Van Keefer. The grand champion market hog was owned by Timothy Shoe maker of Mifflinburg.
