Brad is a first year 4-H swine project member. The 2SS pound animal was purchased by Hatfield Meats for $1.45 pound Brad’s feederpigs were purchased from Martha Allenbaugh of Har leysville. Andrew Crooke of New Hope, an active member of the Buckingham 4-H Club, received $1 pound for his champion pair of hogs. The pair was purchased by Hatfield Meats. The reserve champion pair was shown by Zachery Gottschling. Zach received $1 pound from Leidy’s Meats for his 245 pound and 255 pound pair of hogs. The average price per pound with the champions was .86 pound and without the champions .73 pound. The championship showman trophy went to Julie Bamdt for the second year in a row. Naadmow. One of the best ways to improve your pasture manage ment skills is to see other pasture systems and talk with other graziers. Pasture walks are designed to do just that. Many interested dairy farmers have learned and helped each other in a relaxed informal way how pastures can provide low cost high quality for age. The pasture walks start at 10:30 a.m. and usually end around noon. All walks are free. For biosecurity reasons, please bring a pair of dis infected boots. Disposable boots will be provid ed as well. The final two walks for the southeast are as follows: • September IS at 10:30 a.m. the Ardin Lan dis family on border of Lancaster and Chester counties will be the hosts. Fifty cows ate grazed on 30 acres of permanent pasture with a low cost system on tented farm. Management emphasis is on cost reduction. Bring boots to cross small stream.
