Compost Conference To Dig Into Marketing, Use CREAMERY (Montgomery Co.) This year, Penn State Cooperative Extension’s compost conference in the Philadelphia area will dig deep into issues related to compost marketing and use. The Marketing and. Use of Compost Conference will address composting from the perspective of both the producer trying to find markets and uses for compost and the compost user. The conference is aimed at far mers, municipalities, nurseries and greenhouses, landscapers, and others in the industry who have some familiarity with the com posting process, as well as inter ested members of the general public. On August 24, participants will meet at Montgomery County Community College, in Blue Bell, for a day of seminars. The audicnce spccific workshops will give parti cipants the opportunity to ask questions of researchers and field practitioners testing and using compost for landscaping, turf, municipal applications, green house and nursery uses, and farm applications. There will also be a workshop on how to approach lab testing of compost for quality. Networking time will be set aside for participants during lunch, and the seminar will conclude with a panel discussion on permitting compost sites. The bus tour on day two will visit composting use sites, field trials, and compost equipment demonstrations.
