Juniata County Crowns MIRIAM WERT Juniata Co. Correspondent MEXICO (Juniata Co.) Walker Grange Hall was the site of the crowning of Melissa Kay Hostler as Juniata County Dairy Princess for 1994-1995. It was obvious that farmers and friends are loyal as many attended the event in the 90-plus degree heat on June 18. Mistress of Ceremonies Nancy Toms started by thanking the hard-working committee and all who have helped the past year. Becky responded by thanking all who had helped her. and espe cially her court of dairy misses and maids who had appeared with her in parades and helped at many special events. Becky found the year to be most rewarding and plans to be of help this year by serving on the committee. Newly crowned Juniata County Dairy Princess Melissa Kay Host ler is the daughter of Larry and Deborah Hostler of RR3, Mifflin town. She has a brother, Danny. She is 17 years old and will be a senior at Juniata High School, where §he plays softball on the junior varsity team. She is a mem ber of the Port Royal Lutheran Church and of Teen Council. Mis sy is also a junior member of the National Holstein Association and serves as vice-president of the Milky Way 4-H Dairy Club and is a member of the club's judging team. Missy’s hobbies include show ing her dairy animals and collect ing cow items. Her family owns “Mel-K-Hos” farm where they raise heifers for re-sale. Missy owns IS of the family’s 30 heifers and also owns a milk cow that she shows all over the state. Including her grandmother, Gladys, the fam ily has been on their farm for 40 years. They raise-com, hay, and oats on their 100 acres. Missy’s mother is a milk tester in Juniata County.
