The Horse Bowl is a setting
similar to the “College Bowl.”
A tossTup question is presented
to two teams. The first team to

receives points.
When the question period is

The questions are horse-related

County Wide Dairy Club
On May 7, the County Wide
Dairy Club and the Blue Mountain
4-H Club got together at the Harry
Thompson Farm in Carlise for a
dairy showing workshop.
The day offered four different
workshops for the 20 or so kids
involved. Matthew Day and Emily
Dietrich gave presentations on the
parts of a dairy cow, while Craig
Walton gave a talk on the new
show ring code of ethics.
- Steve Comman gave a talk and
demonstration on how to clip your
animal for the fair, and John Ock
er talked on health papers and the
Shippensburg Fair.
After a short lunch and compe
titive basketball game, everyone
broke out their clippers and work
ed on four specially prepared heif
ers. Steve Comman then took one
of the heifers that had been shaved
down and gave her a show clip job
on the top line.
On Monday. May 9, the County
Wide Dairy Club then had their
monthly business meeting, in
which the workshop and the 4-H
Roundup in August were dis
cussed. Project books were the
activity for the evening, as seven
new members completed the level
one in their project books.
The next meeting will be June
13 at Tri-Day Farm in
Shippensburg.
