Guest speaker for the evening was Erinn Middleton, north centr al region vice president of the Pen nsylvania FFA Association. She challenged the members, parents, and guests to accept the opportun ities presented to them and make things happen, in a positive way. Edward Heyler, retired voca tional agriculture teacher from Cowanesque Valley, recognized the stale degree winners with the state degree golden charm and certificate. Laurie Wildman, Sta cey Miles, and Coli Graves were the recipients. Dr. Robert Jannonc, superinten dent of the Northern Tioga School District, awarded the chapter lead ership medal to Laurie Wildman. She has been very active in the local and county FFA chapter. Christina Erway was the reci pient of the chapter scholarship meal. She has maintained the highest grade point average in all subjects since the beginning of her freshman year. The Cowanesque chapter had two members earn state proficien cy awards this past year. Michael Schwarz, high school principal, made the presentations. The area, regional, and state star for the production agriculture phase of the state level degree for 1994 was Laurie Wildman. She was recognized and presented plaques for the regional and state level, as well as the state star pin, by Kaye Stuart, assistant to the principal. Laurie will represent Pennsylvania at the Eastern Reg ional State Star competition in mid-September in Springfield. Mass. State judging medals were pre sented to Angie Miles, gold in land use and management: Dennis Ackley, gold in livestock judging; and a silver to Laurie Wildman for meats evaluation. These awards were earned in the state level con tests last June. Several students had been involved in contests conducted by Alfred State College last fall.
